Many centuries ago, this tea is said to have been picked by golden monkeys in the Fujian forests. It was believed that the strength, agility and sexual prowess of the golden monkey would be imparted to anyone who drank this robust tea. For this reason, only the saipans and local overlords had the opportunity to drink it.
Golden Monkey is made from bud tips and young leaves. The dried leaves are the color of the monkey, a toasty golden brown. The brewed tea has a beautiful amber hue with a sweet, rich, cherry-like fragrance and flavor. It can be enjoyed, traditional style or Manchu style, hot or iced.
